Candied red or green cherries quartered or any other candied fruit cut in small pieces. Silver shots.
With mixer, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Stir in flour. Mix dough with hands until smooth. Wrap air-tight and chill well (about 3 hours). Divide dough in 4 portions. On lightly floured board, roll out to about 1/4 inch thick. With cookie cutter, cut out designs. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press in cherries, fruit, or shots. Bake in preheated oven (350 degrees) 15 to 20 minutes or until bottoms are lightly brown. Remove to rack to cool. Makes about 24.
