BROWNSTONE FRONT CAKE 
1/2 lb. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 squares Baker's chocolate, dissolved
3 c. cake flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, 1 at a time; beat well. Add the soda and cream of tartar to the buttermilk. Add the flour and buttermilk to the creamed mixture. Add chocolate last. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

ICING:

3 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
1 sm. can milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. confectioners' sugar

Combine sugar, butter and milk in saucepan. Cook for 5 minutes or until small amount dropped in cold water forms a soft ball. Add vanilla, confectioners' sugar and beat until creamy.
