1 lb. butter
6 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
Juice of 1 lemon
4 pkg. dates, chopped and floured
1 lb. brown sugar
1 lb. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
2 lb. English walnuts

Cream butter; add sugar and cream well. Add eggs one at a time, creaming after each. Add flour, flavoring and juice. Mix well, then add the nuts and dates. Grease pan well and line with wax paper. Bake at 275 degrees for 2 1/2 hours. Cover pan for the first 1 1/2 hours lightly so as to let steam escape.
