Wash and peel parsnips. Boil in salted water for 30 minutes or until they can be pierced with point of sharp knife. Slice parsnips lengthwise. Arrange in a greased oblong baking dish 9 x 13 inches and pour over syrup as follows: Mix hot water with firmly packed sugar and dissolve. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg and cinnamon; dot generously with butter.
Bake at 350 degrees in preheated oven for 45 minute, basting from time to time. Test for tenderness.
