BACON WRAPPED SHRIMP
18-24 jumbo shrimp (raw or pre-cooked)
9-12 slices of Bacon ( cut in half )

Marinade:

1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 tbsp. white vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. Paprika
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. curry
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. cayenne (red pepper)

You will need toothpicks or skewers.

Soak toothpicks or wood skewers in warm water for around 30 minutes.

Stir together all of the ingredients for the marinade in a small to medium sized bowl.

Rinse Shrimp, remove tails and pat dry.

Add Shrimp to marinade, toss to coat and allow to marinate at least 30 min at room temperature. (Longer for pre-cooked shrimp).

In a large skillet, cook bacon around 2 minutes until edges start to curl. DO NOT COOK THE BACON. Drain and set aside until shrimp is done marinating.

Wrap bacon around shrimp and skewer or secure with toothpick.

Grill or broil until shrimp is done and bacon is crisp. This takes around 10 to 15 on both my grill and broiler, but you will need to judge this for yourself. Be careful to not overcook if using pre-cooked shrimp.

This is the best bacon wrapped shrimp ever. The marinade adds excellent flavor, although I did leave out the salt & sugar.

Wow! Great recepie! Made it a few weeks ago and my guests loved it. Have my parents in town this weekend and plan on making it for them. Spices are just right and pre-cooking the bacon a little worked out perfectly.

I myselff do not like shrimp, however i made it for a few people and there wasn't any left. I did a few shrimp in the marinade and cooked them without the general opinion in that was that it wasn't good without the bacon, that it needed the bacon to compliment it. The seasoning with the bacon according to everyone was "freakin awesome!"

AWESOME stuff! I reduced the salt in the marinade a bit, for personal taste reasons & OMG this turned out AMAZING. I recommend a thicker cut bacon, as it's easier to wrap than regular cut. Also, for during a back yard cookout, skewered work amazing. If they get cold, merely heat them up like a mini-hotdog, and OMG they're DELICIOUS.

Made a big batch of 200 for the Super Bowl using both fresh shrimp and pre cooked shrimp that I had in the freezer. Fresh shrimp is the way to go IMO, but they were both phenomenal and were gone no time. Thanks for sharing!

These came out delicious! I didn't have the jumbo size, only the large raw shrimp, so I rolled two shrimp in each half slice of bacon. I broiled them in the oven, turning them over after 8 minutes on one side, and broiling for another 6 minutes. After placing these tasty morsels on a serving tray, I sprinkled shredded Mexican cheese over and let it melt. Once I tried the first one, I couldn't stop eating them - they are so good!! I have printed out the recipe and will be making again.

This is one of my favorite dishes at our little Mexican restaurant .. They add a small slice of jalepeno to the back side of the shrimp under the bacon .. New twist on a great dish!!

Amazingly delicious!!! Family would give this a 10 out-of 10. My son wanted bacon-wrapped shrimp for his 18th Birthday, so I randomly selected this one. I got so lucky - all of us LOVED them and this recipe has now been added to the "Absolute Keeper" recipes. We are not a family that orders "suicide" hot wings, however we do like a little bit of "heat" to our spices. Thank you to MAD for sharing it with us.

FYI, I used large, fresh shrimp instead of jumbo, and so I cut my bacon in thirds before I began the 2-minute cooking of bacon. I did NOT use thick bacon and we all thought the balance of shrimp to bacon was perfect. I put them in the broiler on the middle rack. Also, I marinaded them for about 45 minutes - many times, I prefer to let marinades sit for hours or even overnight, however because these turned out perfectly, I don't think I would change a thing. I would categorize them as having a nice kick in flavor, but not too hot where your mouth is on fire. My mom (almost 80), who can't eat things that are too spicy hot, ate them and loved them - however doing half of the cayenne amount would have probably been better for her.

Hey Mikey - try this - you'll like it!!!
