BISCOCHUELOS (HONEY BREAD) 
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. ground anise
1 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sugar plus 2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. shortening
2 tbsp. honey

Mix flour, baking powder, salt, anise, nutmeg and cinnamon in large bowl, blend well. Cream sugars in shortening and add honey. Mix thoroughly, then add to dry ingredients. Make an elastic dough, knead and use small amounts of warm water to keep dough from sticking. Form a loaf and place in a well greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until bread is brown. Insert a bread knife in the middle of the loaf to check if it is done. Make 5 more "holes" in the bread and add butter in holes. (Makes 1 loaf).
