1/2 c. sugar fine sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 lb. (1 c.) soft butter
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 c. all-purpose flour

Super fine sugar (optional). Filling or tart jelly.

Cream sugar, salt, and butter thoroughly. Beat yolks and extract into creamed mixture until light and fluffy. Gradually stir flour into creamed ingredients. Chill dough well. Form 3/4 inch balls, if desired; roll each ball in super fine sugar. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Make well for filling or jelly by pressing each ball in center with a thimble. Bake in oven at 375 degrees about 16-18 minutes or until lightly browned. Before serving, fill wells with desired filling or jelly. 6-7 dozen cookies.
