8" PIE:

1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
Dash of salt
5 c. thinly sliced apples (about 5 apples)
1 tbsp. butter

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Stir in apples. Spoon into pie crust; dot the top with butter. Cover the top with crust, fork holes into the top. Seal the edges and flute. Cover the edge with a 3" strip of aluminum foil to keep from burning. Remove foil during last 15 minutes of baking. Bake until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through the fork holes in top crust. Bake 40 to 45 minutes.

If using self rising flour, omit salt.
