WHITE FEATHER CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
3 c. sifted flour, plain
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
6 egg whites, beaten

Cream sugar and Crisco well. Sift flour and baking powder. Add alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Fold in beaten egg whites. Pour in 3 greased and lined 9 inch layer pans; or 1 oblong pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 35 minutes for layers or 300 degrees for 1 hour for sheet cake.

ICING:

1 box powdered sugar, sifted
1/2 c. shortening (solid Crisco)
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. vanilla
Flaked coconut (optional)
Milk as needed

Using electric mixer combine sugar, shortening, lemon juice and vanilla, adding enough milk to make icing of spreading consistency. After the cake is iced sprinkle with coconut on top and sides.
