Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Great, easy recipe! The cookies aren't too pretty, but they taste just like banana bread. I have prepared this recipe several times because my kids love it. It doubles easily. I have also used Splenda instead of sugar.

This recipe was not very sweet, which was nice. I made a cream cheese filling and made cookie sandwiches. Ten minutes was plenty in my oven.

It was quite good, but my sister and I made a few alterations: we had no oil on hand, so we substituted that with melted butter. We used 3 cups of oatmeal, as the batter was really runny. Instead of greasing the pans, we just put the cookies on tinfoil. They were easy enough to get off. The cookies had a nice banana flavor - looks like we don't always have to make banana bread once our bananas get overripe.

Very good, easy recipe. I made a few adjustments based on the reviews below. I used a full cup of both sugar and oatmeal (and actually ended up adding another 1/3 cup Splenda). I used two very large bananas, since that was all I had, and added an extra 2/3 cup flour. They were delicious!

I was looking for something other than banana bread to use up my over ripe bananas and after reading the reviews, decided to give this one a try. I used a full cup of rolled oats and substituted whole wheat flour. Added a half cup of course chopped walnuts. 10 minutes was the perfect baking time. MY FAMILY LOVED THEM!! Everyone - including the picky eater - ate so many, I will have to make more soon! They taste exactly like little banana bread bites!

These are really good. I made a few changes though.

I substituted the vegetable oil for about 1/2 cup of coconut oil and 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt.
I used a full cup of sugar (1/3 each of dark brown, light brown and white sugar).
I added about 2 tablespoons of honey.
I added an extra 1/2 cup of oatmeal to thicken the batter.
I also added some semi-sweet chocolate chips to half the batch.

These cookies came out like mini cakes.... Not chewy but actually rather spongy. They likely came out spongy due to the yogurt. They are very good though and taste just like banana bread. When I make again, I will add more cinnamon and nutmeg and probably more oatmeal as well. Very good recipe!

I used 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour and same for oats. Otherwise batter is too runny. I soaked raisins in milk and added 2 tsp vanilla to milk. I used big bananas not small ones. Yummy!

Love this recipe!! I changed a few things.. I don't like oil so I used 1 cup of applesauce, and instead of nuts I used peanut butter, one less banana, and increased oats.. Yummo =}

I tried this recipe because I was looking for an alternative to banana bread. (I'll go to great lengths to get out of eating an overripe banana!) The recipe is super-easy and mixing the ingredients in more or less this order makes the blending process easier. I made only slight changes: I added about 1/2 tsp of ginger and 1/4 cup more oatmeal to thicken the batter. The cookies came out like muffin tops - very cake-like and soft. I'd recommend keeping them small (a level tablespoon or less), as some of mine were way too big and were almost like pancakes! Also, it might be nice to sprinkle them with some Sugar in the Raw about halfway through baking to give them a nice crunchy top. Overall, even though it wasn't quite what I had in mind, this simple recipe makes very tasty muffiny cookies that will be great for breakfast :)

I loved these cookies! I used brown sugar, 1/2 cup peanut butter for nuts, and 1/2 cup olive oil so no need to add extra oats. The batter was perfect and 10 minutes in the oven. YUM! Will make these again, very soon.

We made these cookies today and even the picky eaters in the house like them. I an VERY glad to have something more to do with overly ripe bananas. I used 1/3 cup less oil and it worked fine.
