CAROB SYRUP
 

1 c. water
1/2 c. carob powder or replace powder with 1/2 c. carob chips and omit sweetener
2 tbsp. honey
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Place 1/4 cup water in medium saucepan and stir in carob powder to form a paste. Add remaining water and honey. Stir over medium heat, bringing to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Cool and store in refrigerator.

Uses: (1) To flavor hot or cold milk.

(2) Dip peeled bananas in syrup and roll in chopped nuts and freeze.

(3) Dip fruit for a fondue-style dessert.
