1 c. oatmeal
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt (opt.)
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 eggs or 6 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. white sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. applesauce
1 c. chopped nuts or raisins

Put oats in blender or food processor until a finer texture is made. In a large bowl combine oatmeal, flour, sugars, salt, baking powder and spices. Combine eggs or egg whites, applesauce and vanilla and beat until smooth. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients mixing only until moistened. Fold in nuts or raisins and pour into a 9"x13" baking dish (greased). Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean and brownies have pulled away from sides of pan. Slice while warm.
