2 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. molasses
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 c. black coffee
1 c. shortening (solid)
2 c. chopped raisins
Greased mold of 2 (1 lb.) coffee cans

Sift flour, spices, soda and salt. Add raisins, mixing well to coat. Set aside.

In large bowl beat eggs and molasses, sour milk, coffee and shortening. Cut into small cubes. Add flour mixture and beat well. Pour into greased mold of 2 (1 lb.) coffee cans. Cover with foil and steam in boiling water for 2 hours. Keep water 1/3 way up cans or mold. Set cans on rack so water can go under. Cover pot with lid or foil.

To sour milk, add 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1/2 cup milk.
