8 c. puffed wheat cereal
1/2 c. walnut pieces
1/2 c. pecan pieces
1/2 c. dry roasted peanuts
1/2 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. light corn syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Set aside.

Melt butter in a medium saucepan; stir in brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil over medium heat 5 minutes, without stirring. Remove from heat; stir in soda and vanilla. Gradually pour hot syrup over cereal mixture, stirring well. Spoon mixture into a buttered 15 x 10 x 1 inch jelly-roll pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 15 minutes. Stir well and bake an additional 15 minutes. Cool completely in pan. Break into pieces and store in an air-tight container. Yield: About 10 cups.
