QUICK APPLE KUCHEN 
One of my Mother's favorite past-times was baking. Each Saturday brought the delicious aroma of various German Kuchens. One of my favorites was her Apple Kuchen. All of her baking carried not only expertiese but her love.

2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. Crisco
1 egg
1/2 c milk
5 to 6 apples
Cinnamon, sugar
Raisins (optional)

Sift dry ingredients; add Crisco. Work in as for pie dough; break egg into milk; beat and add to mixture; mix until all flour mixture is formed into a soft dough. Grease 8 x 8 inch tins. Spread dough. Peel and cut apples into small wedges; arrange on top of dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and raisins if desired. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
