1 qt. molasses
1 c. brown sugar
1 lb. nuts
1/2 lb. candied fruit
4 oz. orange peel
1 lb. dates, chopped
2 sticks butter
1 c. sour milk
5 eggs
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tbsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 heaping tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
11-12 c. flour

In large saucepan, melt butter, add molasses, sugar, beat in eggs and milk. In large bowl mix dry ingredients (except fruits and nuts). Add molasses mixture to dry ingredients, stir well. Add fruits and nuts (you may also add raisins). Let stand overnight in cool place. Roll out about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick and cut. Bake at 325 degrees approximately 10 minutes. When cool, ice with powdered sugar icing.
