1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. crunchy peanut butter
1/4 c. mashed bananas
1/2 c. vanilla

Cream shortening, gradually add sugars, beat until fluffy and add peanut butter, banana and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Add flour mixture, mix until well blended. Turn dough on flat surface. Shape dough into a roll. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill several hours.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cut cookie dough into 1/4 inch slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 12-14 minutes.

If so desired, take from oven after 12 minutes, place a plain chocolate wafer on each cookie, return to oven for 2-3 minutes longer.
