I was missing my grandmother's snowballs this year and I thought I would search the web to find a recipe like her's. This one came the closest! It's not too sweet and not too bland...it's just right and absolutly delicious. Thanks for helping me out this hoilday season.

My mother and sister are allergic to eggs. I've been looking everywhere for eggless recipes. I've made similar cookies before, but these are better. Thanks.

This recipe brings back so many memories of the cookles that my mom made for Christmas. I remember she would always use food dye to make them red and green. They will always remind me of Christmas. Great recipe.

This is a great easy recipe. Cookies are the hit every Christmas. I took them to another step, at Christmas I split the dough and add red food coloring to one batch and green to the other, everyone loves them.

I have made these cookies for at least 15 years with my grandmother growing up and they are the best, every year around the winter holidays the whole family starts asking me for them. I love this recipe.

I have made these cookies since I was a little girl and still love them today! Christmas is not the same without them! The only thing we do different is to add a candied cherry to each ball! I make the dough, let it chill and then wrap the dough around a chandied cherry and bake it. Wonderful!!! We call them Cherry Suprise Balls. :)

My family have been making these for Christmas for over 30 years. To me, it isn't Christmas without them. One hint I can provide is if you are going to make a large amount, as we do, only put powdered sugar on the ones you are going to share right away. If you sugar them all, depending on how humid your environment is, they will become either slippery or crusty. We always roll in powdered sugar just prior to setting out to eat. Love these cookies.

This is the recipe my family has used for literally 60 years -- for decades I was the only daughter in the kitchen with my mom making these cookies and then we lost the recipe I remember the ingredients but not the measurements and my mom is up in age so she tried her best to remember and got close -- then I found this recipe and this is it but we do use pecans instead of walnuts and a 1 tbsp. of vanilla.

Also, from the same batch of dough we split the recipe and make thumbprints with red and green homemade frosting by rolling the balls in egg whites then roll in nuts -put on cookie sheet -- press center of cookies with thumbprint bake as directed (but these will bake a bit faster because the center isn't as thick) -- cool = add frosting in center -- store air tight container -- For freshness -- these cookies freeze very well so defrost as needed --

Make thumbprints with frosting throughout the year by changing the color of the frosting to coordinate with a holiday - pastel colors for Easter dessert table - red-white and blue for 4th of July-orange for Halloween etc.
