ESCALLOPED ASPARAGUS 
2 c. asparagus (canned or fresh cooked)
4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. asparagus liquid
1 1/2 c. milk
Salt & pepper to taste
1 c. bread crumbs
Grated cheese if desired

Drain asparagus, place in buttered casserole. Melt 3 tablespoons butter. Add flour and mix well. Add asparagus liquid and milk, salt and pepper. Cook until thick. Pour over asparagus and top with bread crumbs. Pour over remaining butter which has been melted. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese. Place under broiler a few minutes.
