1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sour milk
3 egg yolks
1 egg white
1 c. prunes, cut up
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 1/2 c. cake flour

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and sour milk. Mix flour and spices, add to first mixture, add cut up prunes. Bake in layers in moderate oven until toothpick comes out clean. Make a boiled icing, using 2 egg whites left from cake.
