PARKER HOUSE ROLLS 
4 c. flour
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 tbsp. salt
4 tbsp. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. warm water
1/2 c. milk (scalded & cooled)
4 tbsp. Crisco (melt then measure)

Put 1 tablespoon of the sugar in 1/2 cup warm water with the yeast. Let rise to top of cup. Mix shortening, egg, salt and remaining sugar. Add to the milk. Next mix in the yeast mixture. Warm the flour and slowly pour the liquid mixture into the middle of flour, stirring well. Then knead.

Let rise to twice the bulk in a greased bowl. Then make into Parker House rolls. Let rise again for 3/4 to 1 hour in warm place. Bake 8 minutes in 400 degree oven.
