REFRIED BLACK BEANS 
3 strips bacon
1 sm. onion, diced
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 (16 oz.) bag black beans
Water (enough to fill pot to 3/4 full)

Soak beans in water overnight or according to package directions. Place all the ingredients in a 4 1/2 quart pot. Simmer partially covered for about 2 hours or until skin on beans slips off easily when pinched between fingers. Pour off excess liquid and whip until smooth.
