1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1/3 c. butter, soft
1 egg
3 c. mini marshmallows


2/3 c. corn syrup
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. butter
12 oz. pkg. peanut butter, chocolate or butterscotch chips
2 c. rice crispies
2 c. salted peanuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl combine base ingredients except marshmallows at low speed until crumbly; press in bottom of ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 - 18 minutes or until light brown. Remove from oven immediately. Sprinkle with marshmallows. Return to oven 1 - 2 minutes. Cool while preparing topping.

In large saucepan, heat corn syrup, butter, vanilla and chips just until chips are melted and mix is smooth. Stir constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in cereal and nuts. Immediately spoon warm topping over marshmallows. Spread to cover. Chill, cut into bars.
