1 stick butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour

Mix as for pie crust and press-pat into greased coffee cake pan (7x11 inch) with fingers, on bottom and sides.

Spread fresh fruit, slices of apples or peaches, rhubarb cut fine and/or combined with sliced strawberries, blueberries, strawberries or raspberries. Sprinkle 3/4 cup sugar mixed with 2 tablespoons flour over the fruit.

Optional: 1 beaten egg and 1 tablespoon milk combined and poured over the sugared fruit will make a custard-like glaze. Bake 1/2 hour at 400 degrees or until lightly browned crust. Any of the suggested fruits make this a 'wunderbar' dessert kuchen!
