5 c. flour 2 pkg. yeast 2 c. warm water 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 4 tbsp. oil 1 egg 1/2 box raisins Vegetable oil for frying (about 2 to 3 inch frying pan or deep fryer) Small paper bag with approximately 2 c. sugar Dissolve yeast in water with 2 tablespoons sugar. Add part of the flour with the salt and mix well. Beat in egg and add oil. Add remaining flour and raisins. Let rise for 1 hour. Drop into hot oil with a large spoon, or use your fingers. Donuts will be about 2 to 3 inches in diameter. Fry on both sides, drain on paper towels and then dip into sugar filled bag to coat. |
