APPLE SAUCE SPICE CAKE
 

1 c. (1/2 lb.) butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. Natural applesauce
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. each chopped nutmeats & raisins

Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, applesauce and beat well. Combine dry ingredients, stir into the apple sauce mixture. Add nuts and raisins.

Pour into greased and floured 9 x 1 1/2 inch round cake pans. Bake in 325 degree oven 1 hour or until the cake shrinks from the sides of the pan. Cool in pans 30 minutes, then turn into cake rack until cold. Frost top of bottom layer with cream cheese frosting or your favorite frosting. Add top layer and frost top and sides with remaining frosting. Decorate to taste.
