WHIPPED SHORTBREADS 
1 c. very soft butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
Nuts, cherries, colored sugar

Cream butter and sugar in mixer until very fluffy. Add flour and beat 10 minutes at high speed. Drop by teaspoonful on ungreased cookie sheet. Top each with a nut, cherry or sprinkle with colored sugar. Bake at 300 degrees 25-30 minutes until pale brown.
