2 c. thinly sliced baking apples (I prefer McIntosh)

Put sliced apples in bottom of baking dish. Mix and put over apples:

3/4 c. sugar (scant measure)
1 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. milk

Cream sugar and butter, then add flour, measured and sifted with baking powder alternately with milk.

Sprinkle over this:

1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 scant c. sugar or substitute 1/4 c. sugar & 2 packs Sweet & Low
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Pour over all this:

1 c. boiling water

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. May be served with whipped cream or served with milk.
