We don't often think of rice as a breakfast food anymore, but rice is a wholesome grain for starting the day. And rice is budget friendly, easy to prepare and contains no artificial ingredients!

1 cup rice
3 cups water
1 teaspoon salt

Wash rice well and pour it slowly into briskly boiling water. Stir in salt and cook until grains are tender.

Drain in a colander and serve topped with honey, brown rice syrup or sugar and milk or cream.

Raisins or Craisins may be added; they can be added to the cooking rice during the last 5 minutes to plump. If you like cinnamon, the rice may be sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, to taste.

Rice should be cooked in double boiler or a rice steamer for best results.
