DAMPFNUDEL 
Bread dough

Form small balls from dough, place on floured board, let raise until doubled. Put two tablespoons shortening in Dutch oven, add 1 cup of water, bring to a boil, add 1 teaspoon of salt, add dampnudel to cover, let cook for half hour or until water is cooked away and start to fry. Do not lift the lid until they are fried. Add a few potatoes sliced and onion may be added.
