1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1/4 c. butter
1 c. uncooked rice (not instant)
1/2 c. chopped green pepper
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/4 tsp. chili powder
2 (1 lb. 15 oz.) cans tomatoes
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese

Brown beef and rice in butter, add green pepper, onion, celery, chili powder, tomatoes, salt, sugar, Worcestershire sauce; mix well. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and cook slow for 30 to 60 minutes or until rice has swelled and is tender. Stir mixture occasionally with a fork as it cooks. If you wish add 1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese about 5 minutes before serving. 8 servings.
