2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk

Sift and measure 2 cups flour. Sift measured flour with salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk all at once and mix until dough follows fork around bowl. Roll dough about 1/2 inch thick and cut with floured cutter. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet. Makes about 12 biscuits. Place 1 inch apart for crusty biscuits. Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
