PORTUGUESE BEANS 
1 lb. pink beans (may substitute pinto beans)
2 tsp. ground cumin seed
2 tsp. ground allspice
2 tsp. ground cloves
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 lg. onion
1 lb. slab bacon
1/2 lb. linguica (Portuguese sausage)
Salt and pepper

Clean and wash dried beans, no need to soak. Use at least a 3 quart pan, cover beans with 2 inches of water bring to a boil. Add spices and simmer until beans tender. Add meats and simmer until meat are done. Stir in tomato sauce and coarsely chopped onion. Serve with beef or chicken and lots of French bread.
