FRENCH MEAT PIE 
2 tbsp. cooking oil
1 med. onion, thinly sliced or diced
1 lb. ground beef, lean
1 lb. ground pork
1 c. mashed potatoes, cooked
2 tsp. ground allspice
1 tsp. salt (or less)
1/4 tsp. black pepper
2 (9 inch) pie crust

In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Saute onion until tender. Remove and set aside. Brown beef and pork together. then drain. Combine onion, meat, potatoes and seasoning. Line pie plate with pastry, then fill with meat mixture, place top crust. Seal and flute edges. Make 4 or 5 slits in top crust. Brush top with melted butter if desired.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes, until brown.
