STEWED TOMATOES 
4 tomatoes (1 1/2 lbs.), peeled and cut into pieces
Ground pepper
1 c. whole wheat bread crumbs
2/3 c. white onion, finely chopped
1 bay leaf
1/2 c. chopped green pepper

Prepare tomatoes, onion, and pepper. Mix tomatoes, onion, green pepper, and bay leaf in pan. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Cover. On low heat simmer 9-11 minutes. Stir in whole wheat bread crumbs and heat. Remove bay leaf and season to taste with pepper. Serves 4.
