DENVER BISCUITS | |
1 qt. sweet milk 1 c. sugar 2 heaping tbsp. baking powder 1 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 3 pkgs. dry yeast Flour Warm milk to lukewarm temperature. Add melted shortening, sugar, yeast, and enough flour to make dough consistency of cake batter. Put in a large container, cover and let rise. Beat it down and let rise again. Add salt, baking powder, and more flour until it is like biscuit dough. Don't make too stiff, just stiff enough to handle. Roll out, cut, and put on lightly floured cookie sheets and freeze. When frozen hard, remove and place in plastic bags until ready to use. When ready to use put in greased pan and place in a cold oven. Set oven to 400 degrees and bake 20 minutes. |
