GRANDMA FUCHS' SOUR CREAM COFFEE
CAKE
 
1 c. soft butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. Citron, cherries or mixed candied fruit (Grandma always used more!)
1 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. almond extract
1 c. nuts, coarsely chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter until fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar until light and creamy. Add one egg at a time. Mix flour, baking soda and salt together. Add alternately with sour cream and extract. Mix well. Stir in the nuts, raisins or whatever you use. Pour into a greased 9 1/2 x 15 inch pan (or small pans for gift cakes). Cook for about 1 hour.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
4 tbsp. butter

Dot top of cake with butter. Mix cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle on top of cake.
