1 lb. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
5 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Add to the creamed mixture. Form into 2 rolls, divide it on wax paper, use your hands, keep them dipped in cold water and the dough will not stick to your hands. Roll up the wax paper around the rolls and place flat in your refrigerator overnight. Take a large, sharp knife and slice 1/4 inch thick pieces. Place on cookie sheet about 1 inch apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
