3 1/2 to 4 lb. lean ground beef
1/4 c. olive oil
1 bell pepper, minced
1 lg. bay leaf
1 tbsp. paprika
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 c. cracker crumbs
Salt to taste
6 beef bouillon cubes, dissolved in 1 1/2 qt. water
1 med. onion, minced
1 tbsp. minced garlic
3 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Several chili peppers (optional)
3 tbsp. flour
2 cans kidney or chili beans
2 tsp. sugar

Heat olive oil in large pot. Cook meat until it loses its red color. Add onion, peppers, garlic, bay leaf, chili powder, paprika, cumin, oregano, cayenne pepper, black pepper and salt. Saute 5 minutes. Drain grease from pot. Add flour, blend well.

Add broth and simmer 1 hour. While simmering add beans, cracker crumbs and sugar.
