FRUIT OATMEAL BARS 
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. quick cooking oats
1/2 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. sliced fresh fruit (apples, peaches, pears)
1/2 c. sugar for fruit
2 tbsp. butter

Sift together flour, soda, salt and sugar. Mix with oatmeal. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Spread half of mixture in greased pan. Add sugared fruit and dot with butter. Cover with remaining mixture and bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Cut in bars.
