PATTIES WITH GRAVY 
1 lb. hamburger
1 onion, diced
1 roll or 2 slices bread
1 egg
1 env. brown gravy mix
1 1/2 c. water
Shortening
Nutmeg
Salt and pepper

Soak roll or bread slices in water. Squeeze out excess water and mix well with hamburger, onion, egg, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Shape mixture into round patties approximately 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Brown both sides in hot shortening. Set patties on a platter and drain the grease from the frying pan. Add the gravy mix and water into the frying pan and cook and stir until thickened. Add patties and simmer for 15 minutes.

Serves 4.
