LITHUANIAN STYLE CABBAGE SOUP 
1 med. head fresh cabbage, shredded
1 env. onion soup mix
1 lg. can chicken broth
1/2 bay leaf
8 whole black peppers
1/4 c. catsup

Put above ingredients together and bring to a boil. Lower heat to a slow simmer. Cook for about 1/2 hour (check cabbage, it must remain firm, but cooked). Add salt if necessary at this point.
