HUSH PUPPIES WITH CORN 
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. cornmeal
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. cream style corn
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
Vegetable oil

Combine first 4 ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Add corn, onion, egg, and 2 tablespoons oil; stir well. Drop batter by level tablespoonful into deep, hot oil (370 degrees); cook a few at a time, turning once. Fry 3-5 minutes until hush puppies are golden brown. Drain well on paper towels. Yield: about 2 1/2 dozen.
