ZWIEBACK CAKE (1948 RECIPE) 
4 eggs
1 c. English walnuts or pecans, chopped
1 tbsp. hot water
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. zwieback, crushed
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add eggs and sugar together and heat well. Add nuts, zwieback, baking powder and mix thoroughly. Add vanilla and hot water, all mixed well. Pour into 2 (8" or 9") cake pans, well greased and floured. Bake 15 minutes. Serve warm topped with whipped cream.
