2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. sour milk (add vinegar to sour or 1 tsp. soda dissolved in milk)
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour with 1 tsp. baking powder and pinch of salt
1 c. nuts
Stir brown sugar and shortening well. Add eggs and beat. Mix in order and drop from teaspoon.
Icing: 3 tablespoons butter, 6 tablespoons brown sugar and 3 tablespoons cream. Bring to boil and remove from heat and thicken with powdered sugar. Then spread on cookies.
