BLACK FIG PICKLES 
3 dozen figs (40 if sm.)
3 pts. sugar
1/2 pt. vinegar
8 bay leaves
1 tsp. cloves
5 or 6 cinnamon sticks, broken

Do not peel the figs. Mix everything. Boil slowly 2 hours. Put into pint jars and seal. Makes 4 pints.
