BUTTER MELTAWAY COOKIES 
1/2 cup butter - No substitute
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla or lemon
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

In mixing bowl cream butter, oil and sugars. Add egg and vanilla. Add flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Mix well. Chill for several hours or over night. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. flatten with fork dipped in flour.

Bake at 350°F for 13 to 15 minutes. Cook on wire rack.

Yield: About 4 dozen.
