FIG, PRESERVE CAKE 
2 c. flour
3 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. fig preserves
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. butter or oil

Sift flour, sugar, soda, and salt. Add oil and butter and beat well. Add eggs, buttermilk, nuts, and fig preserves and vanilla. Beat until all is blended good. Pour into a well greased loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for about 45 minutes.

ICING:

1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 c. buttermilk

Mix all together and boil for 3 minutes and pour over cake while still hot.
