1 can evaporated milk
1/2 lb. good butter
3 lb. white sugar (accurate)
1 1/2 c. white Karo

Cook until it forms a soft ball in cold water. Stir constantly over low fire as it scorches easily. Remove from fire and stir and beat until cool enough to add nuts and fruit or follows: 1 pkg. candied pineapple 1 pkg. candied cherries 1 lb. chopped nuts

Pour in a shallow pan (cookie sheet) and slice when cool. This candy can be made well in advance of Christmas as it improves in flavor with age. Makes 5-6 pounds.
