OLDE ENGLISH APPLESAUCE CAKE
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8"x11" (approximate size) baking dish.

Cream 1 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup butter (or butter). Beat 2 eggs and add with 1 1/2 cups applesauce to mixture. Blend in 1 teaspoon baking soda.

Sift together: 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt

Carefully mix dry ingredients to creamy mixture, a little at a time. Fold in raisins, approximately 1/2 cup.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Cake will be done when it springs back when touched.

Serve warm with whipped cream topping. (Some folks add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, but I don't.)
